Good Morning Vista Heights School Community, A big thank you to all of our families who joined us for our Welcome Back BBQ and Meet the Teacher evening! It was wonderful to see our Vista Heights community coming together, sharing a meal and building connections. We hope everyone had an opportunity to meet and connect with their child’s classroom teacher and begin the year with a strong partnership. Our next formal conference window to discuss student learning and progress is scheduled for November. In the meantime, please know that you are always welcome to reach out to your child’s teacher by email if you have a question, concern or would like to connect before then. We value open communication and look forward to working together throughout the year! We hope everyone is getting the weekly ‘Vista View’ School Messenger email that Ms. Jan is sending each week. It has the most up to date information for the week ahead. Each month I hope to send a general message with school related information as well. Action Required | Demographic Verification Families are reminded to complete their required annual CBE forms as soon as possible. The CBE is really encouraging doing this via the digital platform. If you need support with this process, please connect with Jan in the office; she is happy to help. Please log on to your MyCBE Account to complete the required annual Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage to ensure your email/phone address/numbers are up to date. Safety | Emergency Procedure Drills Last week, we practiced important safety drills to help ensure our students know what to do in case of an emergency. On Thursday, September 10 we completed our first fire drill. Each school year, schools are required to hold six fire drills and two lockdown drills. We appreciate your support in reminding students of the importance of staying calm, listening to adults, and practicing safety at school. The students and staff did an excellent job! School Council & Enhancement Meeting | Tuesday, September 15, 2026 Thanks to the generous support of our School Council & Parent Enhancement Society, students will have a variety of learning opportunities to look forward to this year. Learn more by attending our School Council meetings. A reminder that our first School Council meeting will take place tomorrow, on Tuesday, September 15, at 6:00pm. We warmly invite all families to join us for a light meal as we come together to plan dates for the year and activities that support our students. We hope to see many of you there. Provincial Literacy and Numeracy Screeners Throughout the school year, students in Grades 1–5 will participate in Alberta’s Provincial Literacy and Numeracy Screeners, with Kindergarten children completing screening in the winter. These screeners help teachers identify areas of strength and areas where students may benefit from additional support. The results are one piece of information we use alongside classroom observations, student work, and ongoing assessment to better understand and respond to each student’s learning needs. Vista Heights Clothing Store Looking to show your Vista Heights pride? Our Vista Heights Clothing Store is open for families to order school apparel and spirit wear.
