October Learning Update
October Classroom Newsletter
As we move through the fall season, I would like to share some highlights of our learning and a few important reminders for the month ahead.
This month, students have been busy learning and exploring across several subject areas. We have:
- Begun reading passages together as a class and identifying important details, including who, what, where, and when.
- Explored the characteristics of living things and how plants and animals interact with their environment.
- Learned about the difference between goods and services.
Next month, we will continue to build our skills and knowledge as we:
- Practice addition and subtraction and explore number relationships.
- Learn about personal narratives and oral storytelling.
Important Reminders
- Daily Folders: Your child brings home a folder each day that may contain completed work, homework, or important forms that need to be reviewed or signed. Please check the folder each evening and return it to school in your child’s backpack the following day.
- Library Books: Our library day is Tuesday each week. Please return your child’s library book in its labelled bag by Monday so that it is ready for our next library visit.
Our Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation
- Our Commitment to the Land: We have been noticing the changing seasons and enjoying several outdoor journaling experiences. These opportunities encourage students to slow down, observe the world around them, and develop an appreciation for the land and the natural environment.
- Our Commitment to Treaty: We continue to learn about the importance of showing respect for our treaty relationships. Through our daily experiences, we are encouraged to appreciate the land we share and recognize our responsibility to care for it and for one another.
Ask Your Child
Here are a few questions you can ask your child to help reinforce our classroom learning at home:
- Can you name three things in our community?
- What changes have you noticed outside as the seasons change?
Warm regards,
Mrs. Sidhu
September Learning Update
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have had an amazing start to the year! The students have been working hard to learn new classroom routines.
Each month, you will receive a classroom update. This will provide an overview of topics
and concepts covered in class, and will outline learning activities for the upcoming month.
Each day, your child brings home a folder which may include completed work, homework and/or important forms that need to go home or be signed. Please be sure to check this folder each night.
Our class library day is Tuesdays. To make sure the library is ready for us, please
send your child's library book back in the labeled bag by Monday each week.
