We celebrate that our students are very diverse. We have inclusive environments to meet the needs of our students. Our small student population contributes to our family atmosphere. We offer a full day kindergarten program that serves the families of Vista Heights. Our staff collaborates to develop engaging, rigorous learning tasks and formative assessments that address the Alberta programs of study. We strive to support students to develop and refine critical thinking skills across the curriculum. We use digital technologies as tools to engage our students in higher-order thinking through complex, authentic, problem based tasks. Our school is well resourced with technology and thanks to a dedicated school council our technology resources continue to grow. We organize our students for learning in multi-aged classrooms. Teaching and learning is personalized for the individual abilities of every student. We teach students not programs or grades. We have a strong focus on social-emotional learning through education.

School Development Plan
Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all of the work that takes place in our school, but rather it focuses on specific areas for improvement.

School Improvement Results Report
Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education, outlines some of the highlights of our school development plan and gives an overview of our school. You can look on the CBE website for system-wide results.
