Good Morning Vista Heights School Community, Happy New Year Vista Heights, Welcome 2026! Gratitude from Vista Heights Staff Thank you to the many parents and school council members who helped to make the staff at Vista Heights School feel appreciated before the winter break with delicious treats and caffeine! Your kindness and thoughtfulness truly made our day. We are so grateful for the ongoing support. It means more than you know! 2026-2027 Registration Opens | January 12, 2026 Beginning January 12, 2026, registration opens for kindergarten, as well as for new Grade 1-12 students for 2026-2027 school year. Children are eligible for kindergarten in September 2026 if they turn 5 years old on or before December 31, 2026. Please tell your friends and neighbours in the Vista Heights community. Attention | Punctuality and Attendance Just a friendly reminder about the importance of arriving on time for class. Instruction starts promptly at 8:44 am, so we encourage you to be present and prepared by arriving before the bell at our soft entry time of 8:36 am. If, for any reason, you are unable to attend, please notify the attendance line of 403-777-6000 extension 1. This will help us avoid sending unnecessary School Messenger notifications and allow us to better understand and support your family’s needs regarding absences. Thank you! Weather | Winter Clothing & Indoor Shoes At Vista Heights School we love the outdoors and go outside every day! We want to remind families to dress appropriately for the weather as we go outdoors down to -20 degrees. Even then, we have a Polar Bear Club where students can go outdoors down to -30 degrees with parent permission and the proper clothing. Please ensure your child has proper indoor shoes that can be left at school. Students are required to take off their boots and carry them to class, where we hope they can put on dry shoes for the day. Indoor shoes make it easier to participate in physical education in the gymnasium and keeps our school floors dry and clean. Some students benefit from additional socks or clothing after a fun recess in the wet snow. Consider packing additional clothing to keep in your child’s backpack. Online Report Cards | February 24, 2026 Your child’s report card will be available to view in your MyCBE account on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. The report card is one of the ways teachers communicate how your child is progressing in their learning. We aim to build a strong foundation in spelling, grammar, and sentence structure, enabling students to express their ideas clearly and effectively. Through targeted instruction, engaging activities, and regular practice, we are committed to supporting students in mastering the technical aspects of writing, ensuring they grow as confident and articulate communicators.
