Good Morning Vista Heights School Community, As we approach the end of another school year, it's natural for emotions to run high, especially for students transitioning out of Vista Heights School. We understand that this can be both an exciting and anxious time for both children and parents alike. With the anticipation of new schools and experiences ahead, it's important to support our children through this transition. Encourage open communication about their feelings and reassure them that change is a normal part of life. Bell Time Changes | 2025-2026 The Calgary Board of Education is expanding yellow bus service and adjusting walk zones in response to new Alberta Education legislation, effective September 1, 2025, this impacts the early dismissal slightly at Vista Heights School for the 2025-26 school year. School hours continue to be aligned at all schools that use transportation services to optimize transportation services. These changes are one part of the CBE’s efforts to develop equitable, sustainable, and coherent transportation service for all CBE students. For the 2025-26 school year, our school hours will be:
L&L Specialized Program | Transportation Reminder As we plan for the next school year, we want to remind families with children registered in the Literacy and Learning (L&L) Specialized Program to register for specialized transportation for the 2025-2026 school year. To ensure a smooth start, please register for transportation services through your MyCBE account. Reminder to note any medical concerns or allergies that transportation should be aware of. Steps to Register for Transportation:
If you experience any issues with the online process, do not hesitate to call us for assistance. Also, please keep us informed of any address changes that may impact transportation for the fall. Grade 6 Celebration & Farewell | Assembly Invitation for Parents/Guardians We are excited to invite you to a special Grade 6 Farewell Assembly on Wednesday, June 25 from 9:30-10:30am at Vista Heights School. This event is an opportunity for us to honour and celebrate our wonderful Grade 6 students as they prepare to move on to grade seven. Each student is welcome to invite two guests to attend the assembly. If your family is hoping to bring additional guests, please call the school office to inquire about space availability. Following the assembly, students will enjoy a special lunch and afternoon of fun activities planned just for them. Please note that the afternoon portion is for students only. To help us plan, we kindly ask families to RSVP their attendance by calling the office or informing their classroom teacher. School Council | Fundraisers & Thank You! A huge thank you to all the parents and friends of the community who supported our school in various ways. We had a great turn out for our honour tea; however, we know there were many of you who supported us in various ways to make this school year fun and engaging. THANK YOU! A special thank you to the parents/guardians that regularly attend our School Council meetings. The efforts of these committed individuals support the entire school and all of the students and ensure that field trips are covered at zero cost to parents and support school wide residencies as well. Reminder that our last council meeting of the year is Monday, June 9, 2025! Kindergarten Registration & Orientation | June 6, 1:30pm If you know members of the Vista Heights Community with eligible children for Kindergarten, it is time to register. We are hosting registered families to join us on Friday, June 6, at 1:30pm to prepare for this exciting learning journey. Report Cards | June 25 – July 25 Families will be able to view online student report cards for kindergarten to Grade 12 from June 25 – July 25, 2025. Report cards for the 2024-25 school year may be viewed, downloaded and/or printed. Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For best access to information, log in to the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool App. Logo Refresh | Update & Request for Story Families who attended the Spring Celebration of Learning on Thursday, May 15, would have seen that the Vista Heights community has decided on the new logo. The new logo will be displayed on our school website on summer solstice, June 21, 2025. The logo selected is the orange one that reflects the definition of Vermillion, the street that our school resides on. Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey to help inform the decision, we had over 200 votes. Next, look forward to a clothing store coming your way to purchase new merchandise! We are reaching out to the Vista Heights community to gather more information about the history and story behind our current school logo. As we work toward refreshing our logo, we hope to honour the timeline and meaning of the original design by including it in our documentation. If you have any knowledge, memories, or insights to share about the origins of the existing logo, we would love to hear from you. Please contact the school to contribute to this important piece of our history. Upcoming Events:
