Good Morning Vista Heights School Community, 

As we approach the end of another school year, it's natural for emotions to run high, especially for students transitioning out of Vista Heights School. We understand that this can be both an exciting and anxious time for both children and parents alike. With the anticipation of new schools and experiences ahead, it's important to support our children through this transition. Encourage open communication about their feelings and reassure them that change is a normal part of life. 

System Update | New CBE Education Plan

The new 2024-2027 Education Plan is in year one of its three-year cycle and was approved by the Board of Trustees at its regular public board meeting on May 28, 2024. Our Education Plan guides our work to our ultimate goal of student success. The Education Plan is a direct reflection of priorities identified by the Board of Trustees for student success: achievement, equity and well-being.  

Bell Time Changes | 2024-2025  

Vista Heights School is adjusting the start (entry) and end (dismissal) times of the school day for the 2024-25 school year. School hours continue to be aligned at all schools that use transportation services to optimize transportation services. These changes are one part of the CBE’s efforts to develop equitable, sustainable, and coherent transportation service for all CBE students. 

We know that this change will have an impact on many families. By informing you before the end of this school year, we hope you are able to make the necessary adjustments to your routines and make any required childcare arrangements before the start of the 2024-25 school year.

For the 2024-25 school year, our school hours will be:

  • Monday – Friday Soft Entry Time                 8:34 AM *New
  • Monday – Friday Instructional Start Time      8:44 AM *New
  • Monday -Thursday Dismissal Time               3:20 PM
  • Friday and or Early Dismissal Time             12:30 PM *New

Fitset Ninja | Wednesday June 5  

Come dressed to move on Wednesday! Fitset Ninja is bringing a mobile obstacle course to Vista Heights School. Students will get the chance to participate in this fun, physical learning experience during their regular physical education class time. Please remember to bring the required forms and a water bottle. 

Parent Council | Fundraisers & Thank You! 

A huge thank you to all of the parents and friends of the community who worked at the casino fundraiser! The efforts of these committed individuals support the entire school and all of the students. Their efforts ensure that field trips are covered at zero cost to parents and support school wide residencies as well. 

In addition, thank you to all of the families who ordered Kernels popcorn! This was a delicious and successful fundraiser! YUM!

Projects at Vista Heights | Playground & Gymnasium  

Starting Thursday, June 6, 2024 students will not have access to the gymnasium due to the work involved installing our new projector. We hope to have this project completed for our final June events. 

In addition, the ground by the school playground needs some work. We are hoping to get this replaced and are kindly requesting that we refrain from using the playground during this work to allow time for the material in the compound to cure.  To prepare for limited access to the playground and gym during these projects we are going to support students in a fun experience visiting the “Baby Park” at the end of the field on Thursday, June 6, 2024.

Families will be able to view online student report cards for kindergarten to Grade 12 from June 26 – July 26, 2024. Report cards for the 2023-24 school year may be viewed, downloaded and/or printed. 

Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE​ to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For best access to information, log in to the MyCBE​ portal instead of using the PowerSchool App. 

Kindergarten Registration & Orientation | June 7, 1:30pm  

If you know members of the Vista Heights Community with eligible children for Kindergarten, it is time to register. We are hosting registered families to join us on Friday June 7, at 1:30pm to prepare for this exciting learning journey.  

Provincial Achievement Tests | Grade 6 PATs

The provincial government made an announcement that ELAL and Math PATs will not be occurring this school year. The Science and Social Studies PATs will still occur and will take place on June 19 and 20, 2024. These achievement tests will be strictly online and teachers are working hard to prepare for this new delivery system.
