Good Morning Vista Heights School Community,
Happy New Year Vista Heights, Welcome 2025!
Gratitude from the Leadership Students | Food Drive
Students from the leadership committee wanted to provide a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to our school food drive by bringing in canned or non-perishable items. Thanks to your generosity, we brought in over 120 cans!
Your support makes a meaningful difference in our community, and we are so proud of what we accomplished together.
Attention | Punctuality and Attendance
Just a friendly reminder about the importance of arriving on time for class. Instruction starts promptly at 8:44 am, so we encourage you to be present and prepared by arriving before the bell at our soft entry time of 8:34 am.
If, for any reason, you are unable to attend, please notify the attendance line of 403-777-6000 extension 1. This will help us avoid sending unnecessary School Messenger notifications and allow us to better understand and support your family’s needs regarding absences. Thank you!
Online Report Cards | January 27, 2025
By the end of January, your child’s report card will be available to view in your MyCBE account. The report card is one of the ways teachers communicate how your child is progressing in their learning. Link for MyCBE Account: https://sis.cbe.ab.ca

Dance Residency | Three Left Feet January 20-23, 2025
Vista Heights School welcomes Three Left Feet for a 4-day dance residency program. During the dance program, learners will explore music, stories and beats from around the world. We will be dancing and moving every day from Monday-Thursday. This is a very exciting opportunity to have artist, Allara Gooliaff from Three Left Feet, onsite with us at the school! All activities will take place in the gym.
Daily workshops will start with a warm-up which will gradually proceed to a dance combination and then class will close with a stretching cooldown. It is very important that students wear clothing suitable for movement and their indoor runners. Some good examples of clothing that allow for whole body movement: t-shirts and joggers or stretchy pants. Sadly, jeans or snow pants won’t do the trick for this dance program!

School Updates | School Development Plan (SDP)
The Vista Heights School Development Plan emphasizes enhancing student proficiency in writing by focusing on encoding and syntax skills. We aim to build a strong foundation in spelling, grammar, and sentence structure, enabling students to express their ideas clearly and effectively. Through targeted instruction, engaging activities, and regular practice, we are committed to supporting students in mastering the technical aspects of writing, ensuring they grow as confident and articulate communicators.
